Video essay for the University of Milan, 2022.
Video essay created as part of the second-level Master's in Digital Humanities at the University of Milan (2021 edition) during the internship at the CTU, Center for Educational Innovation and Multimedia Technologies at the University of Milan, under the supervision of Luca Citron (Head of the Video and Multimedia Productions Office), with support from Gianmarco Torri (Curator of Audiovisual Collections), Giulia Vallicelli (Archivist and responsible for the CTU database), and Alberto Redighieri (Video and Multimedia Productions Office).
The theme of the video essay is personal cinema, a subgenre of documentary
and experimental cinema where the filmmaking practice is used as a tool
for introspection, and the subject of the footage is everyday life, family, travel,
the self. Personal cinema cannot be precisely defined through specific categories, so three main categories have been identified to formally distinguish different approaches to personal filmmaking: the diary, autobiographical cinema, and found footage.
